Vale, John Palmer RN."Lest We Forget."
John Palmer our second youngest member crossed the bar last week, he leaves a wife Sheila and a large extended family.
There are now only eleven of the sixty odd crew members of the 38,000 Ton battleship HMS King George V, The flagship of the WW2 British Pacific fleet, who returned to Australia after WW2. There are about forty members in the UK, so from a crew of 1,800 we are a fast diminishing lot.
Tomorrow we will give John Palmer a good send off, I hope he goes to where he was hoping to go.
Have a safe journey old Mate. Vest.

John Palmer adieu
be good when u enter dem Pearly gates
its a long drop to hell from there
but we Hindus believe in re-incarnation
be sure not to be born as a woman
or a kangaroo in australaya
both are unsafe in this neck of the woods
My condolences to John Palmer's family, RIP.
Both the woman and the man were in their late thirties when this happened.

Sorry anon, not admissible this point in time, try later and switch the names of characters.
Yes, John Palmer had a great send off, and if he was as some people suggested; looking down at the start of his journey to the hereafter, I am certain he would have been more than pleased to see the crowd who attended his farewell; friends and family who came from all parts of the world
as well as Australia were there including seven of his ex shipmates and their wives.
I, Vest, As the Associations Rum Bosu'n, piped 'Up Spirits" standfast the Holy Ghost. and Generous regulation tots of Jamaica Rum was issued to our members and other interested persons. In all everything turned out fine as it usually does at our reunions, and I'm sure old John our mate would have loved to have been there too.
I want to no whether K or RM wud cry the loudest
I am sure Johnie wudnt mind if u told what he did during the War
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and ev'ry highway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way
Regrets, I've had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do and saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course, each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way
Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way
I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I've had my fill, my share of losing
And now, as tears subside, I find it all so amusing
To think I did all that
And may I say, not in a shy way,
"Oh, no, oh, no, not me, I did it my way"
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows and did it my way!
To die tommorow is no worse than dying at any other day. Everyday was there to be lived or mark his departure from this World.

i wanna die in your arms baby
in a last kiss

my pal Georgie, a bachelor
was a bewda like me
he wud go to the pub evry evening after work
he wud return on the shoulders of his drinking mates
who wud dump him on his couch to sleep away
his mom wud thank dem for bringing him home
one day he was brought home the usual way
he didnt wake up
they buried him the next day
on returning home alone after the usual drink
he slipped and fell and his head hit a stone
his pals found him lying on the street
and took him home
not knowing wat had happened
there was no wound
his mom didnt no either
he went to the pearly gates all sozzled
sometimes i hear him at nights
'hey saby come on out
lets have a drink'
i loved the guy, and
i tink he loved me too
he loved many girls
but his first love was the bottle
on my wedding day
he came to the reception sozzled
took hold of Maria my new wife in his arms and kissed her passionately
and went away
i didnt no then
that he had the hottz for Marie
